Talia is wispy and slender, with a very lean frame. Most people would call her unhealthy, but that's just how she's built. She has shaggy, midnight black hair that is styled into a messy, short bob. She used to enjoy having long hair, but after becoming a gym leader, she only found it tedious to take care of. She has pale, porcelain skin with many freckles adorning her face, shoulders, and legs. Always squinting, no one can really tell what color her eyes truly are. Some say green, others say brown. But Talia’s eyes are pure green, the color of oak leaves. She has no visible scars on her face, but there is a prominent, jagged one across the side of her neck.
She is typically wearing a sleeveless, black turtleneck, and an oversized sweater that opens in the front along with either sweatpants or jeans. She’s been known to walk around barefoot, even during pokemon battles. If she is forced to wear shoes though, she chooses a nice pair of expensive, name-brand sneakers.
Talia is a keep-to-herself type of gal. She never seems happy and many adults either pity her or hate her attitude. She doesn’t care either way, as she doesn’t appreciate older adults near her in the first place. She is a very guarded individual who seems to be suspicious of almost everyone. In time, as a gym leader, the suspicion has waned a bit, but she still asks new trainers many questions and tries to push them to their limits. She doesn’t speak unless spoken to, and is practically a selective mute. When she does speak, it is usually either a joke or a blunt, rude response.
Talia is curious about Pokémon and nature. She never wanted to become a ranger, but envies those who are. She has a penchant for rescuing Pokémon and falling in love with them. Her personality doesn’t shine through her reserved nature unless you get to know her. Things usually change if you get into Talia’s inner circle of ‘friends’. That is a big IF though. Talia doesn’t like having many friends. She’s very skittish. She’s better off left to her own devices and makes that perfectly clear to anyone who approaches her. On the inside though, she just longs for a friend or something more.
Born in Galar with an absent father and extremely over-worked mother, Talia had nothing to look forward to in life. Her father decided to move them to Almia to escape… something. She never really figured it out. When she was five, her father took off. But not without promising some protection. He left her a very suspiciously high-level Gallade, who she named White Knight after the tales in her bedtime stories. Through the years, Talia had a normal life. Her mother had three jobs to keep them afloat, and her father sent money from wherever he was when he could. He visited on holidays sometimes and usually brought a new Pokémon with him every time as a gift for his daughter.
When she turned ten, the visits stopped all together, so did the money. She grew up stealing and working on the streets for a while. At the ripe age of 18, she thought she would try and take on the gym challenges. She loved Pokémon, even if battling wasn’t really her style. It was at the sixth gym where she’d meet her mentor. The man was impressed with her skills and explained how he planned on retiring soon and needed someone to take over for him. She refused at first, but eventually was worn down when the gym leader was forced into an early retirement from a severe injury. She’s now the gym leader in Shiver Camp, and she quite enjoys the solitude of the cold, snowy part of the region.
