Tallulah is a petite but athletically built caucasian female. She stands at around 5’2, her build is grown on a lifetime of being a sailor. She may be lacking a bit in the legs but her upper body is well rounded from years of tugging and guiding. She has round muddy colored eyes, sometimes with bags under them from a lack of sleep, and naturally bright blue hair that reaches the lower parts of her back. It’s slightly waved but she has a routine of straightening it. She has pale skin that’s often tanned from her time outdoors and by water. She has a large forehead, thin eyebrows that oddly are brown, sharp chin, and a long slightly upturned nose. She enjoys wearing flowy clothes in blues or white and will keep her thick hair up to avoid overheating. She has no tattoos or any noticeable markings/scars.
Tallulah at first meeting is a bubbly and spontaneous girl. She’s all smiles and fun with most situations. She’s full of life, choosing to view life on the brighter side. Sure, there’s ugly and darkness, but she doesn’t let that dampen her mood and choices. Raised out on the sea she is brave and adventurous, a gal who enjoys seeing the world and what it has to offer. She’ll often charge into situations good and bad with the thoughts that everything will work out one way or another. Her confidence shines out on the water or within her gym to the point of slight arrogance. But, without confidence, how would she run her life the way she wanted? She doesn’t shy away from conflict and confrontation. She was raised to be loud and outward so that nobody could squash her shine.
Tallulah has a terrible tongue, often cursing for sentence flavor or arguing to a losing battle. She’s greedy and gluttonous, she’s stolen things more times than she could count. She won’t raid a town or take pokemon, but she might snatch your pretty bracelet, eat without paying, or take from another ship. If she wants something, she’ll normally get it.
0: When Tallulah would ask her father about her mother he would always tell a special story; Once Upon a Time there was a festival in the region of Kanto. A large ship called the Saint Rain docked, towering over all the other ships. The crew one by one got off and spread across Kanto. Some drank, some bargained with their findings, and some caused a tussle or two. But one sailor found himself at a berry stand chatting up a beautiful young miss. She was talking all excited about a festival that night and how she got a get-up ready. Dad had been talking smooth and got her to laugh and eventually he convinced her to be his date. Well, the dance went wonderfully. She showed up in this long flowy white dress with decorative waves by the frills. Her neck was jeweled with a lovely stone and her blue hair was free and flowing all around. She smelled like saltwater and taffy. By the end of the night they were in bed together, and in the morning Dad had to say a painful goodbye. He was to return to the Saint Rain, he was a sailor and couldn’t stay with the woman forever. Nine months later he would receive a letter via wingul announcing that he had a daughter waiting for him in Kanto. Dad convinced the crew to make a stop and that’s when Tallulah would meet her father. Her mother was very ill and asked her father to take her. “The life at sea will be wonderful for her, I can’t have her grow up in a hospital.” There were tears and a back-and-forth argument until Dad agreed. He’d take little Tallulah to sea. With one last kiss from Dad and daughter… they left the woman. The story had a good and bad ending.
1-3: Tallulah’s first memories were of the sea. She grew up on the Saint Rain, it was a large wooden fishing boat of sorts with a crew of men and women who kept the ship running and their business thriving. They caught water types for battling and food purposes, trading them off at various port towns around the world. Sometimes they’d find cool items or information for trade too. Her father often called themselves traveling traders, Tallulah liked to call them explorers. Life was full. Everyone on the ship had a bond greater than steel and worked well together to keep everything intact. Sure, it was dangerous, but they always pulled through one way or another. Most of the crew accepted Tallulah as a daughter/cousin of sorts, especially the captain. He was the gym leader of a region called [name]. He took a fondness to Tallulah, she brought some youth and life back to the crew.
4: On a particularly stormy night Tallulah couldn’t sleep and was lingering on the deck of the boat. Many of the sailors were scrambling to keep the ship afloat. Often she would help, but the storm winds were too strong for her and she’d only be more of a hindrance, so she stayed out of their way. Looking eastward she could make out the tiny shape of a boat jumping and tumbling along the roaring black waves. She got the captain's attention saying someone was out there. The ship was able to get to the small wooden one right before it plunged under the water. Captain tied a rope to his hip and dove. When he came back to the ship he was holding a boy who couldn’t be more than five or six. He was terrified, cold, and extremely skinny. The crew tried asking where his home was but he shook his head and said he didn’t have one. They decided to adopt the boy into their crew like they had done with Tallulah. Tallulah was excited to have someone closer to her own age to be around.
5-7: As Tallulah got older she was given more responsibilities on the ship. She learned the slang shouted from person to person, it wasn’t just random but a quick way to relay information. She learned how to move, put up, and undo the sails. She learned to fish and was even given her first pokemon to make it easier. It was a mudkip. She named him ‘Saint Rain’, or Rain for short. She loved the thing to death and they became inseparable upon meeting. Not long after receiving a pokemon did it become clear that the girl had a knack and drive for battling, and the best man on the ship to teach her would be the Captain. This is when their bond would flourish.
8-10: While Tallulah loved the sea she wanted to battle and become a strong trainer. She didn’t want to take on a gym challenge, but instead to mentor under the captain. He agreed happily and brought her to his gym where she would be his apprentice. Before they left the Saint Rain, Tallulah was able to catch both a feebas and a poliwag. Her team expanded to three, a perfect amount for battles on land. For the next two years she stayed in the massive water-type gym and learned from the captain and other trainers. It was amazing to say the least and a real eye opener for what she would want to do in the future.
11-12: Tallulah would return to sea at the age of eleven. She was excited to see her father who took up the captain position while they were gone. It was a nice reunion and party held on the Saint Rain that day. Her pokemon had gotten stronger over the two years. Her mudkip had evolved, as well as her poliwag Frogger, and Millie the feebas leveled up but hadn’t quite evolved yet. She had a lovely little team starting. Tallulah was an excellent fighter, but wasn’t the best at sailing or assisting with directions. Her main job was to help catch pokemon to sell and get rid of any big hazards.
13-15: Captain decided that Tallulah needed to learn how to navigate the ship properly. She needed to know what to do if nobody else was around or able to help. With a lot of trial and error she was able to take control of the ship and bark command at her fellow crewmates. She found this part of the job terrifying as many lives relied on her to give prompt and clear orders. Captain said that would go away with time and sailing would become like walking.
16-18: Tallulah’s father had stepped down as co-captian of the Saint Rain and the position was offered to her. It was shocking only to her as the rest of her crewmates urged her to say yes. She accepted, a new flow of confidence ringing in her ears as she took to the sea to continue their adventures. At eighteen she had trouble with a storm producing monstrous waves. She was knocked off the ship. She was found by a lapras and she was able to stay on their back for the duration of the storm. It wasn’t until morning that they were able to find the Saint Rain. Tallulah caught the helpful lapras and named them Storm. Everyone was relieved to see her back safe on the ship, but she was given hell by her father and the captain who thought she had died.
19-21: Tallulah bought an azumarill off some old lady at a port town and was given a chinchou for free. The exchange was odd but she was more than happy to fill up her team with six pokemon. She certainly had a preference for water types. On her twenty-first birthday Captain had pulled her aside and asked if she would take over his gym. It was an easy yes without hesitation. Though she asked why and he explained he was getting old and a fresh face would do the region some good. It was true, Captain’s black hair was starting to grey and his face was starting to sink in, but of course she didn’t say that. So, she soon became the water-type gym leader of Almia. A little later she was given the Saint Rain, and the crew disbanded. It was something that was hard for Tallulah to accept. They weren’t giving up or abandoning the sea, it was simply time for something new. Her father decided to stay in Almia so that they could be close.
Current Day: Tallulah has been the gym leader for two years and hasn’t had much sea adventures. She still has to find a new crew for her ship! But, she is enjoying her life greatly. She’s grown to be a bit of an environmentalist now that she has been on land and sees how disgusting humans can be.
